Depth Affect are making a sort of glitch intelligent hip-hop, with this sort of twinkley edge to it, which I find very weird. I mean I like that current trend of doing a sort of idm/glitch/hop. But this is really weird. It is so twinkley and happy. There is absolutely nothing sinister about this album in any way shape or form. It is just so damn, well not even happy. That’s not right. And not cute either. But like twinkley. I don’t really know what I mean by that . Let me think about this some more. It is catchy and groovy, but. I don’t know maybe cute is the right term. I’m sure they are all very emotional people. Oh and there are some tracks with vocals which I do like. It’s weird like spoken rap, which is kind of buried and almost sludgy in the mix., played as almost an instrument.

The track Dusty Records has this sort of dusty dirty rap vocal on it, almost mumbled, actually I find this one pretty cool. This sort of gruffish track, with an almost organ sounding bleeping in the back ground. It is very laidback and groovy. I kind of like that. And this singer sounds like he has just been going through a bunch of old crap and got all the dust caught in his throat and can barely talk. Which I imagine is what would happen if you were going through dusty records. Well for a long time anyway, would probably absolutely take your voice away. I don’t know if that is what they were going for but it is kind interesting.

It is very poppy for glitch hip hop. I think I might actually kinda like it. Maybe I’m just being soft today, hey we all get to be soft occasionally right. Can’t spend all our days being angry. But yeah it is very sort of poppy, and almost happy, but again not quite the right word. It’s just nice I suppose.
