Motley Crue

Eleven Seven, 2008

Buy from Amazon

Alright we could have some real fun here and try to figure out why Motley Crew is even bothering to try to restart their career. Was it purely a cash grab, IRS trouble, too many drugs, not enough drugs, fun, boredom, or something else. Speculate as much was we like, but I don’t think we’ll ever know. Or maybe we’ll know too soon. I don’t think I really have to go into too much detail, you know what it sounds like, it sounds like Motley Crue.

I was very surprised when it began not too badly however, this did not last too long as it goes into a formulaic pattern that is, at this point, too well established. Glamorized hard rock. What I do think is worth mentioning though is the overall sadness of this record. I mean the first real song on the album has a great screamed out vocal about wanting too be young, and that’s seems to be the overall theme of them album an attempt to recapture their youth and it just seems really depressing, I mean here we have a bunch of what 40-50 year olds just trying to regain their misspent youth, something they will never be able to do no matter how many albums they release. They just seem unable to grow up and it is very depressing.

Maybe everyone does need to buy this album in order to cheer the Crue up. However that might be the big sham. As the other big thing I notice is the amount of marketing coming with this. There are advertised tour dates, you can buy the book that inspired the album, buy buy buy, the second Major theme, so maybe this is all the marketing. Make you feel so bad for a bunch of aging rockers that you buy there crap and feel sorry for them, meanwhile they laugh all the way to the bank. don’t fall for it kids. And no matter how nostalgic you get, I would just listen to the Crue songs. It’s not gonna bring you back. But I don’t know maybe you’d still enjoy this. I would recommend listening to it before purchase though. O maybe don’t and just think for a moment about how sad it all is.
