The Beat Strings new record, Love Lust Wonder, is something that I think music lovers have been thirsting after for a very long time. Their sound bears a strong resemblance to the Strokes. They play with passion and have a heavy rock and roll influence but it’s music that you want to move your feet to. This five-member band has certainly put together an amazing record that is well produced, well written and well played in all aspects.

“Starlight”, the first song on the record starts off with some heavy feedback and that goes into the guitar chords and the drums. Right away it is something that makes you move and it is impossible to sit still as the vocals hit you with a poppy punch. Even as I write this I am tapping my feet along with the beat because it is that infatuating. The bass line is also very prominent, making the beat stand out and making it hard to resists this strong opening song.

Later in the album, “I am Meth” is slightly darker and more rockabilly sounding then its predecessors. Along with the tell-tale strong beats and poppy feel, the vocals are darker and less audible, in a very scratchy good way. The song speeds up and has some background synth noise that adds to the dark sound. This is a song that I would want to have gone trick-or-treating to – if I had listened to music this cool when I was 8. I really enjoy the amazing guitar solo that this song contains and the hardness and raw passion that flows through the sound.

The Beat Strings are an amazingly talented band, Their songs send shivers down your spine when you listen to them because you can’t believe the talent that these five players possess. With songs that are both powerful and catchy, they have the ability to make you want to sit down and just listen but at the same time dance like crazy. More often then not those two things do not go together yet in the Beat Strings, Love Lust Wonder, you can’t have one without the other.
