Zaar is a French band ideal for fans of heavy fusion jazz along the lines of Mahavishnu, or 70's era Miles albums like Pangaea, Dissonance, extended jams, distorted guitars, super fast drumming, dark moods define their sound.
Calling this jazz almost seems inappropriate; there are almost no solos – often the sole jazz identifier in this day and age. In fact the first solo I distinctly could label as such was six tracks into Zaar on "Omk" when Zaar leader and guitarist Yan Hazera rips a brilliantly dissonant solo over the madly flailing drums of brother Michael Hazera.
This will be very appealing to fans of moody, dark, heavy fusion jazz. Mahavishnu fans take note.
