Plume is another album of exquisite gurgling, glitching minimalist drones from ex-Destroyer drummer Scott Morgan. Guest musicians include are Jason Zumpano (Sparrow/Zumpano) on Rhodes, Steve Wood (Destroyer) and Krista Marshall on Ebow guitar, and Josh Lindstrom (Precious Fathers) on vibes and xylophone.
Hard to say much about Plume since – true to Loscil form – it's extremely minimal. Glacial drones and pulsing glitches form a gentle backdrop for the extraordinarily economical improvisations (if they can be called that) of Morgan's guest musicians. The distorted Ebow guitars provide a bit of tension to the generally mellow sound of Loscil.
Loscil is particularly moody, ambient music with a great deal of space and – more so than the most psychedelic of psyche albums – it will take you on a heavy trip into your imagination, a pensive mood, or simple relaxation.
Plume is recommended listening for fans of ambience and simply for those whose ears need a rejuvenating rest.
