Along with the album’s 11 original tracks, this reissue includes an album entitled Seagull Is On The Rise by Carey Mercer’s pre-Frog Eyes band Blue Pine which also featured Lily Fawn now of the band Hank Pine & Lily Fawn.
Frog Eyes fans will eat this up as The Blue Pine has probably been nearly impossible to find anywhere but Victoria’s Ditch Records and a few shops in Vancouver. The music is similar to Frog Eyes – Mercer is at the helm – but perhaps a little less tempestuous, less driven by madness. But just a little – this is pretty darned similar to Frog Eyes. Recommended for completists!
