From the very first track I knew that this was down home rock ‘n roll of the purest kind. Jake Stigers has compiled ten smooth tracks that run consistently from first note to last. Smooth? Yes. But though there are no surprises, don’t allow this to insinuate passive listening.

The first song, “Do you feel high,” opens so intensely it almost feels as though you’re entering the album mid song– it jolts you into listening mode, musically, and keeps you there by presenting the chorus almost immediately. It’s a catchy tune that, if you don’t feel high, will take you there.

Lyrically my favourite is the meditative title track, “Comin’ Back Again.” Then, the romantic “Only Wanna be with You.” Others, such as “Another Negotiation” and “We Don’t Need Anybody,” exemplify the guitar-heavy roots of rock.

I am partial to songs with prominent vocals. It makes me feel that the artist cares about what they have to say as well as what their music has to say. On this front, Stigers delivers. Really, there is no critique I can offer that would be worth mentioning. This is the type of music that collects a mainstream fan base, and keeps them loyal.
