It’s always interesting to hear an emcee with a lisp, let alone one with a lisp and a British accent. Add to the mix that he raps about middle class issues like vegetarianism, actually raising his son (with his baby mama), and running track in school and you have the makings of some unexpected hip hop.

Although he tries to assert his ties to the Bronx, he’s not a try-hard when it comes to garnering street credibility, and he’s clearly accepted the influence being on that side of the world has on his style. In these “purist” days of exclusionary politics from the genre, Travis Blaque simply holds the door open for himself like a gentleman, gently yet firmly claiming a space within the definition-no permission needed.
