A brilliant collusion of laid-back sixties/seventies country-rock with punk energy, fans of Uncle Tupleo will love the hell out of San Francisco's Trainwreck Riders. I can also see this appealing to Shins fans.
The songs and vibe are pitch-perfect and rollicking, but it's debatably worth noting that the thankfully occasional guitar solos are garbage – the band would do well to either give up on them or go back to the woodshed. Features nice production – the band know just when to drench the guitars in reverb to get a great Neil Young thing going. The band ventures into a nice acoustic sound with songs like "Rocks At Your Window" which introduces old-timey fiddles to great effect.
Fans of country-rock take note, Lonely Road Revival is an admirable debut album from a talented new band.
