The Jewelled Antler Collective is always spoken of in terms of nature so it wouldn't be without basis to mention the soft, yet constant rushing sound of a river or forest brook when speaking of Softwar. The project features Jewelled Antler's Loren Chasse and Christine Boepple, Kerry McLaughlin anid Geoff Koops.
Long, droning, pulsating psychedlic epics that have a vaguely Eastern sound are the order of the day here on their self-titled Digitalis release. Not as abstract as some of the Jewelled Antler releases - Softwar features lots of discerniblly traditional instruments, melodies and rhythms as well as singing by Kerry McLaughlin. That's not to say this sound like pop music - it's still as abstract as music gets, just not as abstract as those forest-loving San Franciscans wandering amongst the redwoods banging on rocks and sticks as is often their wont to do.
A long moody psychedlic journey that functions not unlike a Buddha Machine - the pieces don't go anywhere in particular, they just exist outside of the dimension of time. Not unlike the sound of the aforementioned river. Very pretty.
