I must admit that my knowledge of anything even remotely resembling electro is limited to Newcleus, old breakdancing compilations and Kraftwerk. Oh and course Herbie Hancock's Rockit. This album does remind me a little of all of those aforementioned electro delights. Do you remember Newcleus? Their big hit was "Jam On It" which featured little alien chipmunk dudes singing about superman. It was awesome. AKB doesn't have alien chipmunks. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. But there are some pretty cool robotic voices not entirely unlike the voice on Scorpio. And that's awesome.

This is a great record for putting on while working, and it would also be great music for fucking or doing anything sexy and badass. Very consistent, lots of chirpy little video game sounds, great sounds, charming little samples popping up here and there. Awesome bass lines, killer kick drums, nice little funk guitar samples and awesome robotspeak on the second track, Just Love.

This would also be great music for dancing to in the kind of sexy dangerous illicit gothic industrial club with smoke machines that probably exists only in my memories of Montreal's Dax or La Nausee.... Naw, who am I kidding, in Gotham-like cities all over the world outside of my homely, friendly old Canada there are still tons of clubs that this would be the perfect soundtrack to... Seattle's Noc Noc is the first that comes to mind.

It's only available on vinyl from vinyl-only label Lost and Found records out of London, yes, this is underground... essential listening.
