Kicking off with the title track in a swirl of delicate vocals, singer/ bassist / pianist Mark Di Renzo elegantly drives this catchy mid tempo tune. Mr. Sound, the second track is where it gets interesting. Drew Michael has a superior command of guitar tones and attacks keeping the song well away from the chaos a lesser band would have produced. Highest Comfort is a very nice jangly pop number with excellent Byrds-style harmonies. Ending off the EP with the garagey fuzztone riff of End Transmission, Gigantic come up to full speed driving energy with a rock solid drumming from Paul Di Renzo. This tune is where you get a sense of what kind of live band they might be.
So where is the downside you ask? I don't really see a defined problem, only several possible avenues for Gigantic. Will they develop into a more direct dirty garage band or a softer, more complex unit with piano textures? However they choose to evolve, it's worth checking out.
