Zookeeper really makes me think of early Wilco, and I can’t really say why. Yeah it reminds me so much, but then I just went and put on Wilco’s AM and nothing. No idea what so ever. Perhaps it’s just the style of singing or the basic overall style of the album. Hmmm I really need to figure this one out. But regardless not a bad little sorta rocky-folky type album. Like soft garage or something. I suppose there is an attempt at creating an indie-country feel and maybe that is what makes me think Wilco.

Dammit, I was trying to get that Wilco thing out of my head. Think about Zookeeper. Yes it is acousticy rock. Well not totally acoustic, lots of little horn and piany elements. There was this one time I was working in a call centre for some crap American phone/internet/cable company, and this guy called up and was very chatty and he was telling me about his brothers band, and how he didn’t like the new album as much. But he said a lot of people seemed to. It was about then I noticed his name was something like Tom Tweedy. So I asked what band it was and sure enough it was Wilco. So I told him I preferred Am and Being There and wasn’t such a huge fan of the newer stuff and he said people seem split between that. People that like the earlier albums and people that like the newer albums. But I thought it was pretty cool it was a semi celebrity experience, and shit it could have been like some band I hates brother. I was going to put in a band I hated there, but there were just too many to single out, I mean could I really do justice by talking about one band over another. Like could I include band x, without mentioning band y, and then band y without band z. Know what I mean? Fucker.

I got distracted by Wilco again. Maybe I should listen to Wilco that might solve everything. Then I could get on with talking about Zookeeper. Zookeeper, Zookeeper. Stay on track here boy. I don’t know if I can. I have to say though I do think the Billy Bragg/Wilco covers of Woody Guthrie are pretty awesome. Well not all of them , but there are some great songs there. Okay that’s it the last thing I say about Wilco. Zipped up and throwing away the key. Okay. Becoming All Things. That’s it for now. That is where all my attention is going. Listening, listening. Hmmmm. Okay.

Snow in Berlin is a pretty interesting song. Pretty catchy actually. Some very nice horns in it. Oddly enough though the song Trumpets, doesn’t appear to have trumpets in it. Maybe I just missed them. Ballad of My Friends, also has some nice hornage though, and it’s very upbeat and bouncy. Oh and some nice honky tonk style piano. Yeah so not bad like sort of alt-country, sort of I don’t know just indie. And there did you see how long I didn’t mention Wilco for. Impressed?
