This a cute little record. And I say cute because they’re not really taking themselves too seriously, or of they are they certainly don’t sound so. Picture Casio keyboards with a high pitched girl/guy vocal singing about the fragility the Love Life. It’s great vocal and I’d put it up and further than say, Belle and Sebastian (but only because you’ve heard them.)
There’s a real chemistry on the record and it’s easy to tell this quartet are good buds (and probably smoke pot together.) I love the, me-not-greedy analog concept of the thing and they have this great tune called, Preprogrammed Casio that I love. It sounds like an over produced track from Mode’s, Speak and Spell and I itune it all the time.
Complaints??? If anything it is slightly repetitious and by that I mean some of the tunes sound a little similar and ache the head after a while. I love the girls voice though and I bet they’re great live. These songs tend to have a long life and don’t appear to age, kind of like Speak and Spell.
Similar sounding tracks is a part of music as I can attest from writing reviews that tend to run together and read the same. We are human. We are artists who (try to) strive and this album while not giving us complete hope, offers something original and inspiring.
