The premise of Magus is not especially well layed out at any point during the movie, but it's an enjoyable ride from start to finish nonetheless thanks to excellent acting by Ron Fitzgerald as The Magus Fernos, Bill Steel as Uncle Felix and the remarkale talents of Lizzy Strain, a very cute niece Claudia to Steele's healer and magician Felix.
The gist of Magus is that the evil Fernos is set to wreak havoc on the world of magic, destroying all magicians who come in his path. Felix, we come to learn, is possibly the only magician alive capable of stopping the darkmage. Unfortunately he's been embittered by the death of his beloved wife and cloistered himself away for many years, his talents growing weak without use. Enter Lizzy, the doting niece who wants to see Felix return to his old self. The two embark on a program of comraderie and karate - the latter of which will help Lizzy stave off an attack towards the climax of the film by Fernos' very sexy minion Sen played by Eva Derrek.
Seeing Felix's powers return to fine form is fun and watching him ultimately kicks Fernos' ass back to hell with some serious white magic is great fun. But the real strength of Magus is the interplay between Felix and Claudia. Fans of magic will get great delight from Magus, while fans of gorgeous women will want to catch this flick for a healthy dose of Lizzy Strain.
